They Call Me Mum

So, it’s time for another life update.  Let’s go with bullet point this time, shall we?  Ok, good, so glad you all agree with me.

• Last night’s Gaelic Storm show at the Birchmere was fantastic, as expected.  I would have preferred them to play the Bandstand again, because the crowd was just too polite in the Music Hall.  But, it was a great show, and I’m sure our tablemates thought we were insane and possibly a tad obsessed.  But!  They did “Nancy Whiskey”!  Even if a touch (ok, maybe two) slower than the recorded version we’re used to.  Steve said they hadn’t played that in a long time, so I’m just glad they did.  Last night’s “special guests” version of “Johnny Tarr” included Kenny Chesney, Ben E. King, and Neil Diamond.
• Monday night, TOH and I are back to the Birchmere for a show by Colin Hay.  It should also be a good show.  I do so enjoy seeing as many shows as possible, but our bank account certainly does not.
• Speaking of shows recently added to our summer lineup, we’re going to see Ben Folds for Klumpen’s birthday, and again row BBB of the orchestra pit at Wolf Trap.
• I have completed the annual torture session known as my yearly physical.  I should get information on all my lab work next week.  I’ve also gotten the final crown installed on my tooth, but I think with the sleep-grinding of the teeth, I’ll be due for another one sooner rather than later.  And, I think I may have an issue with the billing practices of either my dentist or my insurance company.  I’m not going to start slinging accusations, though, until some time has passed and research been done.
• We’ve found out that next year’s cruise will be on the Norwegian Jewel, and that tickets will probably go on sale sometime at the end of May.
• I am amazed at the stupidity of some people.  I’m all in favor of second chances, but third, fourth, fifth, ad infinitum chances?  How many times can you get burned by the same person and still go back and let them do it again.  How can women make such stupid choices?  It’s sad when you see it happening, and the victim won’t listen to anyone trying to help.
• I’m frustrated by life in general lately.  All of these issues that bother me, and that I really can’t do anything about.  I can offer advice and opinions, but I can’t change anyone else.  I can think of 3 situations immediately that fit those circumstances.  And I can’t do a thing about any single one.  I can only control myself, and thinking I have any sort of control over anyone else is stupid.  So, I’m not going to make myself crazy over it.  (Or at least I’m going to try not to make myself crazy.  Crazier.)

So, that’s life here.  My birthday is in less than 3 months, and I’m not really ready for it, but not much I can do about that, either.
