Random Update Again

So, apparently the daughter feels I don’t update enough. Even though she’s one of the people I spend the most time with. So, since I have a little time to kill, here I am.

It’s September, which means I’m in full Fiscal Year End frenzy mode at the office. In the past week, I’ve spent close to $10 million. And, we’re trying to get ready for the new fiscal year, cope with a new system that sucks, and last Friday my hard-drive died. So, bring on the booze and chocolate.

Faire season has also started, which is a fantastic relief from work. We’re not quite at the halfway point yet. That’s next weekend. I’ve got pictures up at my MDRF pix site. I need more pix of Klumpen, I don’t think I’ve taken any of her yet this year. Instead of the blowguns booth, she’s working at one of the leather garment shops this year. She gets to look cute all day, which she loves. Faire has been fun, but there seems to be quite a bit of employee discontent. Luckily, I’m not involved in any of it, so I can just watch the drama.

I’m still busily sewing on commission work for people, so I don’t have my stuff done. Which is always the way it works. I did finish my corset completely, and it fits, so that’s step one done, at least.

TOH has a new truck, since he smooshed his old car. And I splurged and bought the newest Bernina machine. His name is Sven. Elizabeth (my old machine) has been bequeathed to Klumpen. I also purchased a serger, my first one. After the first time threading it, I seem to have gotten the hang of it, and have started using it. It’s going to make things a little easier when doing commission work, I believe. I also upgraded my Bernina embroidery software at the same time, but I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet.

I had another sleep study at the end of August, and I’m getting my results today, so hopefully I’ll be getting a better night’s sleep soon.

And apparently, my father finally died. A long painful illness is no less than he deserved, but on the other hand, I’m glad he’s dead. Again, rather than calling me directly, my mother called the house phone. And, rather than call my sister’s house phone, she called Cindy’s rarely used cell phone and left a voice mail. She’s such a coward.

The kids are back in school. TSM is loving 5th grade, but Klumpen is ambivalent about her junior year, I think. She can correct me if I’m wrong. And, TSM turned 10 this past Monday. We did our celebrating on Sunday, and made cake Wednesday night.
