Sewing and Stuff
So, I’ve been sewing. Sort of. I have one pair of Pigeon’s pants nearly finished, Fuzzy’s pants finished, and lots of frustration everywhere else.
I’ve been helping Klumpen with her new coat, as well. It’s going to be awesome. I won’t give any details away yet, but it’s definitely one of a kind, and she’ll look stunning in it.
I did have some success with the “Elizabeth Vernon” corset from The Tudor Tailor. I scaled the pattern up from the book, increased it to my measurements and cut the draft of it. And it actually fit! So, yesterday I cut the two layers of canvas interlining, and began sewing boning channels. Of course, whether or not it fits once it’s boned is a whole other story. I’m using cable ties in most boning channels, with steel at the lacing edge.
Once I get it finished, if it fits properly, I’ll use it as the basis for pattern for the bodice of the gown. I want to cut the bodice all in one piece, so that I can center a motif on the back. I’ll need to make some slight modifications to the straps and armscye, but nothing drastic. Provided, of course, the corset fits.
Klumpen has volunteered to help with the other stuff I need to finish, so that will take some of the pressure off.
