Stuff and Doings

So, the Klumpen and I went to see Guster on Tuesday the 31st at Wolftrap. Most excellent show. After the opening acts, that is. Rogue Wave was OK, not my new favorite band, but not bad. I could see them growing on me somewhat. Ray LaMontagne, however, made me want to open my veins with a spoon. Good god, he’s depressed. And absolutely no state presence. I couldn’t understand the squealing fangirls (and fanboys) who acted like he was the next messiah.

For anyone geeky like me, the set list was:

  • Careful
  • Barrel of a Gun
  • Captain
  • Diane
  • Satellite
  • Come Downstairs and Say Hello
  • Demons
  • C’mon
  • Ruby Falls
  • What You Wish For
  • Airport Song
  • Manifest Destiny
  • Hang On
  • Amsterdam
  • I Spy
  • Fa Fa

—–

  • Lightning Rod
  • New Underground
  • Happier
  • Keep It Together

We were a tad disappointed they didn’t do “Two at a Time”, but “Fa Fa” made up for it. And the Scooter song. Yay Scooter. :) And now and I know how to sign “Fa Fa”. Oh, and they had the interpreter do the Nerd Rap from “Revenge of the Nerds”! Too funny.

Last week my mother visited. Speaking of depressing. She’s such a martyr, but she brings all this crap on herself, so I’m short on the sympathy. And the more time I spend with her, the more I understand my sister’s dislike of doing so.

And speaking of my sister, she came to visit over the weekend (after Mom left), and we had a lovely time. I really do like her. And that’s not something I say about most of my family members. I wish we lived closer together, so that my kids and her step-kids could hang out in the summers like we did with our cousins when we were younger.

I’m still not sleeping. I’ve got another sleep study scheduled for the 21st. We’re slowly increasing my medications, but if anything, I’m sleeping worse than before. Monday night I was awake every hour or so. I can tell how poorly I’ve slept by the condition of the bed in the morning, and it looked like I’d been wrestling the covers all night. So, of course, everything else is affected by that, and I feel stupid again.

I’m not happy with any of my sewing. Klumpen and I worked on a “body block” for me yesterday, so that’s some progress, but otherwise, I’m not a happy camper. And my embroidery machine was being tetchy yesterday. “Elizabeth, you bitch.” I need to send the machine in for cleaning and maintenance, but the turn around time is 2.5 weeks, and I really need the machine right now. The girl at the store said that December is the best time to drop it off, since most other people don’t want to be without their machines around Christmas.

I wonder if my Bernina dealer does trade-ins? Not that I need more machine or anything.

So, that’s everything. Oh, we’re throwing a pre-faire dinner soon, so that should be interesting. We don’t have a total guest list yet, so I don’t know numbers.
