Stupid Weather
I really wish the weather would make up its mind. When I left the house this morning, the sun was out. By the time I got to TSM’s daycare, it was completely cloudy. Once on I-95, it had started raining, and then snowing, and then back to rain as I approached my exit. By the time I’d pulled into my office parking lot, the rain had stopped, and now as I sit here on my lunch hour, the sun is shining. Teh Hell?
If I am such a screw up at my job, why am I getting more and more work that other people should be doing? I found a link to the GAO report of our agency fiasco, and I want to sit down and write a point by point rebuttal, but that would probably get me labeled whisteblower or worse.
Knitting wise, I’ve restarted the shawl that the dog ate. I’d show pictures, but my camera has stopped working. Klumpen took it to school and it worked but it stopped working by the time she came home. Whatever. I have a new one on order that should be here by the end of the week. I hope. But, anyway, the shawl. I’ve restarted it with a wool/silk blend in different colors. So far so good. I’m a little iffy about the color change join, but I’ll live. I’ve also been working on the “Frothy” scarf kit that I got when I restarted my Rowan subscription. I’m on the edging now. I’m making it a little wider than the pattern calls for, as well as doing it all as one piece, rather than two pieces (one for each pair of long/short sides) and then sewing the corners. I wanted to make the most of the Rowan KidSilk Haze they provide, rather than have little bits left over.
Sewing is still stalled. I’ve narrowed down the styles I want to use for my Venetian gown. I think I’m going to end up drafting most of the pattern from scratch, using various examples of other costumers. Once I pull all my sources together, I think I’ll do a whole post just on that. I ordered some additional fabric over a month ago, and it still hasn’t arrived. The latest update from the merchant is that it will arrive this week. But I’ll believe that when I see it. Considering I ordered it at the end of February, they charged my card in mid-February and they’re telling me it will arrive this week?
I’m thinking of taking a “field trip” to a large fabric store in Baltimore this weekend. I like G Street and all, but they just don’t have quite what I want. And don’t even bother with Hancock or JoAnn Fabrics. We’ll see how I feel. I may just sleep again. It’s only Wednesday, and I’m dreaming of the weekend already.
