Because the World Truly Sucks.

I’m going to talk about trivial, non-consequential things today.

On Saturday night, I ended up chauffeuring/chaperoning 4 teenagers to the Cowboy Mouth show at the 9:30 Club. It was supposed to be TOH and I taking 3 teens, but since the World Truly Sucks, it wasn’t. That said, though, it was an excellent show, as always. I think I’m still slightly deaf. They did tons of old stuff, and a lot of stuff from the new album, which I’d highly recommend you purchase. It was somewhere after 1:30 a.m. when the show was over, and by the time I took everyone home, it was nearly 3:00 a.m., but it always feels good to get that exhaustion you only get from a Cowboy Mouth show.

Today at lunch, I finally started the Rosy Fingered Dawn shawl. I purchased the kit quite a while ago, but just haven’t felt up to the task of a complicated lace knit. Since I hate my job, I need something to take my mind off of it, and decided that the shawl would be a good way. It’s worked from the center out, and this is the first time I’ve tried a pattern that progresses that way. So, although the first couple tries of the center were wonky, I’ve got the hang of it now, and have 16 rounds finished already. Of course, the stitch count is only up to 72 stitches now, but progress is progress.

This evening, when I get home, I’m going to start working on the chemise and bodice for a friend. I need to have it finished by this weekend, probably, so I’d better get in gear. I’m hoping that the fabric I’d ordered shows up soon, so that I can use the colors she really likes, rather than the color that she settled for. Plus, if they show up quickly, I can use black bias binding, which make things quicker for me. I think I may also from some knitting projects that are sitting around half finished, that I really don’t have the interest in right now. I’ll get back to them eventually, but (hopefully) by that time, I’ll have lost some more weight.
