More Beading
So, last night while watching the excellent Veronica Mars and the pretty good Lost, I made a necklace. I was going to make the nice one, with the more round, smoother pearls, but I need either a bead reamer or finer beading needles. Majorly frustrating.
So, instead I used the rice shaped pearls, and tried to match them up as much as possible. But then I made a mistake in the center of the necklace. So I’m calling it a design element. I need to get a charm or something to put there, and it will balance the whole thing better.
Either way, I’m getting quicker about it. The bracelet took me about 5 hours to do, and last night’s necklace took closer to three. And that was with eating dinner, and fending off the evil kitten who was trying to eat the beads.
In work news, I am again qualified for my own job (if I haven’t mentioned that before), and I have a telephone interview coming up for a position with a different agency. So, things aren’t all bad. Just glacially slow and aggravating.
TOH and I want to go to San Francisco the first weekend in December, because “from the ashes of the Uninvited rises Fish Ranch Road”, but money really isn’t there for that kind of extravagance. Backstory: The Uninvited is/was one of our favorite bands of all time. They never had much commercial success, but had a pretty devout cult following - us included. We flew to Austin, TX to see them at their next to the last show ever. Now, three of the original members are reuniting into “Fish Ranch Road”, and their first show is December 3rd. As much as we’d love to see them, and I’d love to go to San Francisco, we really can’t afford it right now. Especially at this late date, the airfares would be stupid. So, I’ll hope they stick it out and perform somewhere a little closer to this side of the country.
Speaking of the evil kitten, this morning Lilly stole a chain from TSM’s room, and dragged it all the way downstairs. “This is my shiny thing; and this is my shiny thing; and this is my shiny thing.” (Extra points if anyone outside the family gets that joke.)
