Marking Time
While I’ve been stewing, disappointed and angry, over a situation (actually, more than one situation) that I have no control over, I’ve taken up beading.
Last night I started and finished a simple beaded bracelet. It’s made with 4mm freshwater pearls, 4 mm garnet (possibly dyed) beads, and 2mm sterling silver spacer beads with a silver toggle clasp. It goes silver-garnet-silver-pearl-silver etc. Very simple, yet very pretty. I even knotted between each bead. I was quite impressed with myself.
I need to buy an awl for opening the holes in the pearls, though, because the beading needles kept getting jammed. Or maybe finer beading needles.
I started the beading because I wanted to make my own jewelry for Faire, so I found inexpensive freshwater pearls, garnets, etc. And like all my other obsessions, it seems to grow more quickly than I’d like.
I’ll take a picture of the bracelet soon-ish. Next on the agenda is a matching necklace.
