Now we’re talking!

So, the new carpet arrived and was installed over the weekend. It took them from 7:30 am to around 5:00 pm on Friday and from 7:30 am to about noon on Saturday to finish the whole job. 296 square yards of carpeting. Oy. But, it looks fantastic. And now the house is starting to feel like a “new house”. The condition of the old carpet was appalling. In some rooms, there was no more than 4 inches between stains. Luckily, there weren’t many places where it had soaked all the way through to the flooring below. Now we can finally start concentrating on putting the house together.

TOH drained and refilled the hot tub over the weekend, too. That’s a chore and a half. But it’s crystal clear and sparkling today, and I’m thinking of taking a dip once I get home.

TSM and I went to the Chinn Center yesterday afternoon to swim. Boy am I out of shape! I did 4 laps of the 25 yard lanes, and was limp as a noodle when I finished. I used to be able to swim for hours and not get tired. But, of course, that was over 20 years ago. Time to stop living in the past. The next step is to fill out my “survey” and make my appointment for my free hour with the personal trainer. I need someone to give me direction and get me started on all the machines there. Otherwise, it’s just too intimidating.

Work has been brutal. To the point that I’m not sleeping again. I was glad I had Friday off, but the piles of paper I have to come back to today make me wonder if it was worth it. I’ve had a few meetings with the new boss, but I’m still unsure of where I stand with her. I know where I stand with my current boss, he just tells me what needs to be done and leaves me alone to do it. I don’t know if that’s what the new boss will want, though. And then there’s the whole Administrative Contact/Budget Analyst thing. Bah. When’s my next Federal Holiday?

Klumpen is after me to help her finish her corset before Valentine’s Day. It’s a pinstriped Victorian type corset, and she wants to wear it to school on Monday. It’s small, but there are a bazillion pieces to the pattern, so it’s going to be time consuming. And I’m so tired when I get home that all I want to do is go back to bed. But, I promised.

I actually enjoyed the Super Bowl last night. I’m glad it wasn’t a blowout game. It was much more interesting to watch that way. And there’s definitely something to be said for watching it on a 60 inch Hi-Def screen. The Ameriquest commercial with the cat was one of our favorites. And the National Anthem was done with class this year. It wasn’t some celebrity of the moment, warbling away. I’m no music expert, but I am so thoroughly sick of all the singers and the vibrato and runs they all feel they have to inject into everything they sing. What ever happened to just singing the song?

Well, I guess that’s about all the news. Life has settled into a pretty predictable routine here. I guess I only keep posting for those few people who read here to know I’m still alive.
