Peace at last…

Well, here we are two days after Christmas.  Finally.  This is the time of year I like.  When the presents have been opened; guests, if any, have gone away; and we’re all working on that sugar coma.  The calm (as calm as it gets in my house anyway) returns and I am once again free to be my nomal vegetative self.

Christmas with the stepson wasn’t as bad as I was dreading.  He came over on Christmas Eve and helped us decorate cookies, and spent the night, much to TSM’s delight.  He was quiet and polite, and as far as I can tell, nothing is missing from the house.  He even came bearing gifts.  He brought gift cards for the kids, and chocolates for B and I. (He remembers how to bribe me, that’s for sure.)

I spoke to my Mom on Christmas Eve, and explained to her that I wasn’t going to be able to finish the Pacific Northwest Shawl for her, as promised.  She said not to worry about it, but I still feel guilty.  Not guilty enough to work on it, of course, but still guilty.  And then she started in on my sister’s relationship.  To which I wanted to reply, why the F*** don’t you just call and ask her yourself?  But I was good, and refrained.

Christmas Day was pleasant.  TSM and Klumpen both were tickled with their various bits of booty, and J* got a couple of small things from us, as well as a gift card.

I was pleased with all my goodies. :) Many pairs of jammies, Ham-Ham Heartbreak for my GBA, chocolates galore (I’m going to need new sizes of jammies soon), books, and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen DVD. I’m a sucker for Sean Connery. What can I say.

My excellent sister, sent me the best gift.  :)  She knows I’m a Barbie fan, and we were passing the “redneck Barbie” jokes, and threatened to send me one for Christmas.  Well, since she couldn’t find one of those, she sent me the next best thing - The Nascar Barbie!

For all the time off I have until Monday, I’ve done remarkably little knitting.  I did work on some of the “Nicole” camisole, and that’s about it.  I want to start something new, but I’m trying to finish things first.

Today Klumpen and I hit the used book store again. She was getting rid of some of her books, and I was searching for knitting books I don’t have. I found Jo Sharp’s Knitting Emporium and The Jean Moss Book of World Knits. Not that I really needed them, but I got them for 50% of list price.

Tomorrow (or is it today?), the goal is to make cupcakes for our “Monday-after-the-holidays-and-we-don’t-feel-like-working party” in our small group of co-workers.
