Monday again, and what the hell happened to my weekend?
Oh, I know what happened to my weekend - I had a great knitting weekend. I did nothing (well nearly nothing) but work on my SSCEP and finished it last night at about 10:45 pm. Finally!
There was a brief diversion with helping TSM make some glycerin soap, and taking Klumpen to get her hair cut and redyed, but those were minor detours.
I had a problem with the cast on row, though. I was stretching it, and there must have been a weak spot in the yarn, because it broke! ARGH! So, I picked up a row of stitches, and then pulled out the cast on row. After that, I knit downward and cast off. The good news is that the (former) cast on and the cast off now look identical.
Tonight I weave in ends and do other odd finishing jobs, and then I can mail it off to its destination! I am so happy to finally have finished this, after all the grief I went through. And I found a lot of little trinkets to add in with the gift. I hope it’s all well received.
Now, to take a break from deadline/thinking knitting, I am going to work on Klumpen’s Gigi scarf that I started about a week ago. It’s all mindless garter stitch on big needles.
But, I do have to get back to work on the Pacific Northwest Shawl I’m making for my Mom’s friend as a thank you gift. I have very little done on it. I’m confident I can get it done before Christmas, though, as long as I pay attention to what I’m doing.
Over the weekend, I got some yarn that I’d ordered previously. I got the Opal Sweater Yarn from Martina’s shop. I also received the Richesse et Soie I’d ordered from Halcyon Yarn when they put it on sale. It came with a lovely Eugen Beugler lace scarf pattern. I wouldn’t have ordered the yarn if it hadn’t been on sale, though. $15 for 25 grams of yarn is just painful to pay! Even if the yarn in question is a delicious cashmere and silk blend. I could sit and pet this yarn all day long.
