I think it’s Wednesday, and I’ve set the DVR to catch Smallville and Angel anyway.
Well, yesterday came and went in a blur for the most part. I stayed in bed yesterday morning to catch up on sleep, but as soon as I woke up, I had to hit the floor running!
At 10:00 am, my new mattress arrived! Whoo-hoo! Which made me want to just get right back in bed, but I had a deadline at work I was supposed to meet. So, once the deliverymen were sent on their way, it was a whirlwind from then on.
My first stop was to take TSM to daycare; he had no school, so he got to sleep in as well. Then Klumpen and I were off to Target to get sheets for the new beds. She moved up from a twin to a full size, and our mattress was a lot thinner than the new pillow top we bought. After that, it was a quick stop at the house to drop off our purchases and pick up my forgotten cell phone. From there it was to the local library to vote. (Must preserve my right to bitch when I don’t like the way the county is run.) And finally, my last stop before hitting the road to the office, dropping Klumpen off at the Mall.
All that done in less than 2 hours, and I made it to work by 12:30.
Work was a blur, and we didn’t get the report finished, but I gave it a good shot. After that, it was home to pick up Klumpen from the Mall, TSM from daycare and figure out what to do for dinner.
Finally, after all that, I got to pick up my knitting. On Monday evening, I restarted my SSCEP, because the yarn from the second batch didn’t match the first, and I don’t think there’s enough in the first batch to finish the project. So, I pulled out everything I’d finished, and started over from scratch. I now have about 1/3 done of what I’d already finished before the ripping. (Did that sentence make any sense?)
Last night, rather than work on the SSCEP, like I was supposed to do, I started a new shawl for myself. We have a wedding to attend this weekend, and the only suitable outfit I have is a summery/early autumny type dress. So, I wanted to make a quick shawl to go with it. I’m doing it with worsted mohair on size 15 needles. It’s a really simple pattern (from Lorna’s Laces, that is free with a hank of Heaven or Helen’s Lace), so I think I can finish it in time for the wedding. Otherwise, I’ll have to freeze.
In domestic news, we recently changed our cable service to include DVR. Oh my, it’s so cool! No more trying to remember how to program the VCR 5 minutes before a show starts! Just hit record, or set it up in advance. Save it as long as you’d like or copy it to video to keep even longer. Rewind 8 seconds of that live program you’re watching. List all the recorded shows you’ve got so you don’t have to watch each video tape to figure it out! I love new gadgets!
