It is still October, isn’t it?
So, long weekend of no posting again. :p
Friday morning, I woke up too tired to see straight, and went back to bed with the plan of getting up later to go into the office. When I finally did wake up, I was having dizzy spells and nixed the idea of driving anywhere. After calling my boss, and then getting caught up in a “Musketeers” movie, I went back to bed.
Once the house finally stopped spinning, I got up and decided to sew, rather than knit. I ended up making two pajama tops out of some really nice white flannel that I paid too much for. (I had originally picked out some cute duckie flannel at Walmart, but the stupid woman at the cutting table couldn’t figure out which end of the scissors to use, so we gave up and went to G Street Fabrics.)
G Street Fabrics. Man. I could easily spend my salary there. Makes me want to get back into sewing on a regular basis. While we were there, I bought flannel for pajamas for Klumpen and for me, and then some courdoroy to make a jacket for Klumpen, and some heavy brown cotton gabardine to make a new cloak for her as well. (Her old cloak was lent to someone who has since disappeared off the face of the earth. Cow.)
My friend from NYC arrived Friday night while I was finishing up the second of the pajama shirts. Nice warm softee flannel shirts… Mmmm….
Anyway, the fabric obsession got in the way of the yarn obsession on Friday. But on Saturday, I was good and worked on that Opal sock. But that was before I had to get ready for the Halloween party we were attending.
TOHÂ and I wore our RenFest costumes, and our friend K wore this feathery black outfit with a cool red and black feathered mask. Zelig, the cat, was quite fond of the tulle at the bottom of her skirt, and was trying to chase her around the house to eat it before we left. Our party host was dressed as a desert prince and our hostess as a witch. One other couple was a plug and outlet. They had to stand together and explain it to me. I’ll just blame that on the beer.
We had a fantastic time, and it was great to see friends we’d not seen in far too long. We found out that one friend’s daughter is now a freshman at WVU, another’s daughter is in her last year of college and their son is stationed in Iraq. Add another worry to the list. It wasn’t that long ago that he was still in high school.
You can tell we’re all getting older, though, because we were home shortly after midnight. After a stop at the 7-11 where a man tried to get into our car, thinking it was his. We all had a good laugh at that one.
Sunday was another lazy day, complete with naps, and I finished one Opal sock and have the other completed to the heel. I feel much better about my knitting now, and plan to try to finish the second sock this evening.
Next on the agenda is the annual get-together in NYC on the first weekend in December. We’ll have people from as far as San Francisco attending. I can’t wait!
