Happy New Year!

Hmm….It’s nearly 4:28 p.m., and it looks like I’m going to have to cancel my nervous breakdown. Wow. As of this moment, I have no pending data entry; I’ve given my final yearly numbers to our Budget officer; I’m not waiting on calls from anyone. I must be dreaming.

Yesterday on the way home from work, TSM and I stopped off at Hancock Fabrics to grab a pattern and fabric for my skirt for this weekend. I chose a deep charcoal for the underskirt and a wine/maroon for the overskirt. I’m not going for period authentic, so I bought sand washed looking satin. If anything, I can be a well-paid tavern wench. TSM regaled the young lady cutting the fabric with tales of his adventures at the Fest. Apparently her boyfriend does period combat, so she had quite the conversation with him.

After dinner, Klumpen and I then went up to A.C. Moore to pick up some candle making supplies and a few other things. We ended up with a lot more than I’d planned. I bought yarn for scarves for Klumpen and K. It’s a soft, fluffy eyelash yarn, with a neon variegated inner core. They had several different shades, like pinks and blues and purples and black and white.

They also had a whole section of what seemed to be “scarf” type yarns. A good section of “basics” that they’ve always carried, but one whole section devoted to “trendy” type yarns. They had Gedifra and On-Line and Katia. They also had a section of new patterns, along with an entire Katia book of patterns. It’s nice to see more than just the “craft store staple” type yarns and pattern books.

On our way home, we saw the crescent moon hanging low over the horizon. It was big and beautiful, with a lovely mellow yellow glow. L tried to take a picture of it, but I don’t think it came out.

Well, it’s about 15 minutes before I leave for the day, and no major crises have arrived, so I’m going to start getting ready to go home.

To anyone else out there working for the government, Happy Fiscal New Year!
