Post Birthday Wrapup
Not a lot to say today. I have a killer headache and my Mother is on her way to visit. Any bets on whether the two are related or not?
TSM’s birthday yesterday was all he hoped for. We opened presents, went to dinner - where he was given a free ice cream sundae with a candle, came home and opened more presents, and had cake. Everything on his wish list was covered (thank goodness for short wish lists!) and then some. We didn’t watch any news, and I just barely skimmed the newspapers. It was a good day.
I worked on Klumpen’s dress again last night, and found that the pattern is wrong, not me. The pattern directs you to sew the lining the same as the dress. Check, did that. I also re-checked the fabric layouts to make sure I was supposed to be cutting the fabric right side up. Check, did that. I marked each piece with an “R” to keep track of the right sides.
I sewed the lining together, and went to attach it to the dress. I put right sides together as directed, and start pinning. Well, guess what, I was trying to pin the front of the lining to the back of the dress again. So, this time, rather than redo the whole damn thing, I just sewed it inside out. So, the right side of the lining is facing the wrong side of the dress.
I would have done without the lining, but I had already taken the pinking shears to the dress when I’d attached it wrong the first time, so I needed something to stabilize that part of the dress.
Either way, I have some decorative top stitching to do, as well as the shoulder seam and the hem. And then it’s finished. I quit. No more. It’s a been a rather frustrating project.
I have nothing more today. My brain is in a vice grip. Please stay out of my way on I-95.
