There have been no outbreaks of knitting at Lisa’s house for nearly a week.
Hmm… It seems most people have already taken off for the Labor Day weekend. Will this mean I have a better commute? Of course not! Don’t be silly. Today’s commute will be even longer than normal. Everyone will be trying to get out of town for the “last weekend of the summer”. And everybody and their brother from out of state will be trying to do the same thing. Some days, it really sucks to live anywhere near I-95.
I don’t think I’ve knit anything all week long. I can’t remember. I need to go back and re-read all my entries to be sure. I’m having a slump. I’ve done sewing, but no knitting to speak of.
I can finally post pictures of the slippers I sent to my friend in Austria in our latest gift exchange. She received them after a ridiculously long wait. International mail takes forever.
This is a picture of the slipper unstretched. It is about 3 x 5 inches, more or less. Here is a picture of the slipper stretched over my size 8 foot. (Yes, I washed them before I sent them!) These were incredibly easy to make, and worked up really quickly. I used this pattern. I had to tweak it a little bit, because I used a chunky (or was it bulky) wool blend, rather than worsted weight as the pattern called for. I just knit the “size” rather than the amount of stitches called for.
I also sent along one of my mini sock keychains. I use 16 stitches on US size 0 (2mm) needles. They work up very fast, and then I pop them into the blank keychains you can get at most local craft stores.
In other rants, I’m glad to see that stupid bored teenagers who write malicious code are being caught. Of course, if MicroBorg would fix their code, the stupid bored teenagers would have less opportunities to do this, but that’s a whole other rant.
Have a great weekend, and don’t drive like idiots out there. I’m on the roads too.
