Rambling Entry on what I’ve been doing since Thursday.

Hmmm…. Well, the doctor’s appointment for TOH on Thursday went well. He’s fine if he cuts out some of his bad habits. While I was waiting for him, I got plenty of work done on K’s “Bucket-O-Chic” hat. I finished the brim, and started the crown. Since I only had the one circular needle, and I was running out of stitches, I used the “Magic Loop” method. Otherwise known as “twisting the cable of your circular into a loop to make it shorter”. It’s fiddly, and I wouldn’t want to rely on it, but it’s handy when you’re stuck without your dpns. I really don’t understand how someone could write a whole book on it. I mean, why bother? Any knitter with half a brain stuck with just one circular could probably figure it out alone.

I had several good naps this weekend, but have probably screwed up my sleep schedule beyond repair at this point. I’m now at the maximum dosage for the meds that are supposed to be helping me get a good night’s sleep, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I have another appointment with the neurologist next week, so hopefully we can find an alternative.

Friday morning was a comedy of errors. I was late getting ready, late getting out the door, needed to get gas for the car, this, that and the other thing. The last straw was when I was in the car in the driveway, and managed to dump a bottle of water in my lap. I turned around and called it a day.

Later that afternoon, after I picked TSM up from daycare, we stopped off at Michael’s to pick up some more odds and ends for Klumpen’s fairy costume, and I finally got the wooden dowel to make my 8.5 mm needles. A 5/16 inch dowel rod is just a little too big, but can be sanded down to the size I need. Now all I need is for TOH to clean out that side of the basement so he can work on it for me, and I can start swatching for the Jaeger Como “Greenwich” sweater.

I really don’t remember Saturday, except for finishing K’s bucket hat finally. I need to take a picture of it before I give it to her. I love how easy they are to make.

Yesterday, I worked on sewing projects. I made a case for all my new Bryspun straight needles, mended the hems on the dining room curtains, started on the sheers for the dining room window, and straightened out some of my fabric stash. I was going to help Klumpen with her costume again, but came down with an allergy attack. Several benadryl later, I felt much better, but slept the day away.

Klumpen managed to finish her wings, and create a pair of shoes made of mostly ribbon to wear, and was working on accessories. K was over as well, and worked on her skirt and wings.

Once I woke up last night, I re-started a lace scarf that’s been languishing in the UFO pile for ages. I got the end border (14 rows) and one 16 row pattern repeat done. It’s going very quickly and I like the way it looks. I think I may give it to my mother-in-law as a Christmas gift. She lives in Florida, so doesn’t really need wooly things. This is a silk/rayon blend yarn, so it won’t be too warm.

Today is catch up day at work (when is it ever not catch up day!), and this afternoon is (hopefully) finishing Klumpen’s fairy dress.
