Weekend Update and The Kilimanjaro Kat Shawl is finished!
Well, it’s time for another weekend wrap up. (As if you were all waiting on the edge of your seats!)
Knitting-wise, I finished the knitting and sewing of the Kilimanjaro Kat Shawl. It was a pain to sew the hem down. The finished product looks fantastic, but it was tedious work to sew down all 684 stitches. Tonight I will wash and block the shawl, and take pictures.
While I was sewing the hem, I left tails of about 6 inches every time I joined a new piece of yarn. I wanted to make sure that I had enough slack to stretch fully when I block the shawl. I’m going to weave those ends in while the shawl is blocking.
I also started and made it all the way to the heel on a new sock. This one is done in Regia Multi-Effeckt 5386, which has shades of black and grey. Very nice, and it is moving along quickly.
My next shawl is going to be the Cascading Hearts pattern from HeartStrings Fiberarts. I’m going to use a deep claret red 2/12 Feather Light Merino that I purchased from Halcyon Yarn. It is color 25 on the web page. It’s a gorgeous color and I can’t wait to get started on it.
Saturday evening, TOH and I went to Wolf Trap to see Blues Traveler. It was a fantastic show. They played for two continuous hours with barely a 5 minute break between the show and the encore. The only “radio friendly” song they played was “Hook” and that was the encore. I recognized other songs from the CDs we own, as well. Not that I can name any titles right now, but still… It was a great show, and I was glad we went.
Yesterday, Klumpen and I went and got our hair done. I just got mine all cut off again, and she had hers re-dyed. It’s now Jet Black, with bluish undertones when she’s out in the sun. It looks great on her, and really brings out the blue in her eyes.
Last night was another rough night, sleep-wise. I only got about 4 to 5 hours, and they were restless ones. So today I’ll definitely be napping on my lunch hour.
Today’s socks are the black and white Fortissima Colori socks.
