Numfar! Do the Dance of Joy!
Well, after much counting, swearing, counting and swearing some more, I have corrected my errors on the Kilimanjaro Kat Shawl. What a relief. I didn’t even need to rip back anywhere to do it.
Last night after dinner, I got out the blocking board and pinned the shawl out. And then I counted. And I counted again. And I had TOH count. I wasn’t off by six stitches per side, as I’d thought on Sunday night, I was off by three stitches on the whole thing. That’ll teach me to try to count at 11:30 on a Sunday night, won’t it? On the side where I thought I’d had six extra stitches, I actually had the correct number.
I was supposed to have 169 stitches on each side. On side one, I had 169; on side two, I had 168; on side three, I had 170; and on side four, I had 167. I had left out a yarn over on side two; added an additional yarn over on side three, and forgotten both yarn overs on side four.
I feel so much better now. Praying to the pagan gods of lace {or insert your favorite deity here} must have paid off. I’m back on track, and hope to finish by this weekend.
In sleep related news, the insomnia is back. I can no longer get to sleep at night. So last night while I couldn’t sleep, I worked on a few more rows of Lucy Lu. I now have about 11 more rows to do on the back of the sweater. My problem is how to attach the new ball of Wigwam yarn. I need to do a search on that one, or if anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
I also swatched and cast on for a Bucket-O-Chic hat from ChicKnits. This one is for Klumpen, and is in hot pink Sirdar Snuggly Domino, which has little pink slubs on it. It’ll be an interesting hat, I’m sure. I’m using a DK weight, instead of a worsted weight, so I’m making adjustments as I go. If it works out, I’ll make one for Klumpen’s friend K, as well.
I’m also thinking of making something for my next-door neighbor. She works as a buyer for a large grocery store chain, and is always bringing us things from her trips. Fresh pies, fresh bread, cookies and cakes, etc. All good and fattening. So, I’m trying to think of what would suit her best. I’m thinking a wide lace scarf - wider than a normal scarf, but not quite as wide as a stole. Somewhere in between. We’ll see. Maybe it’s time to just get out one of the stitch dictionaries and play around.
