It’s time to find a new steak place.
Hmm…well. What to say today? Not a lot, really, but I wanted to not have an entire weekend to recount on Monday.
Friday night, TOH and I went out for my belated birthday dinner. We went to the local Lone Star steakhouse, because I’m a carnivore. I like steak. I like plain, semi pink steak. And lots of it.
The dinner was a disaster. They weren’t too busy, but apparently our waittress had a blind spot as far as we were concerned. It started off with the drinks. TOH wanted a bottled beer, he got draft. Then when the appetizer finally showed up, it wasn’t thoroughly cooked, and we had no silverware to eat it with. They never brought my salad or TOH’s soup; I was never offered a refill on my drink; we got no bread. When they brought our entrees to us, TOH’s was underdone; his shrimp was on my plate; mine was overdone. The little extras we asked for were no where to be seen. When TOH asked that she take his back to be cooked longer, it took her 15 minutes to get back to us. We asked for the check. She got a 15% tip to the dime. TOH is normally a very big tipper.
After that fiasco, we walked over to the CompUSA store in the same shopping plaza and wandered around for a bit. We had planned on catching a movie, but the ones we wanted to see had starting times of 8 or 10:40. We missed the 8, and there was no way I’d be able to stay awake through a movie that started at 10:40. So, instead, after the CompUSA roam, we hit Toys R Us. We were looking for a bigger bike for TSM, since he’s outgrown his old one, but ended up buying a new Barbie for me, as well as the Gameboy Advance system for all of us. Although I’m the one using it most. I have a long acquaintance with Mario, dating back to my preganancy with Klumpen, and he and I have renewed our frienship.
After that, it was off to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream. What ever happened to them actually serving 31 flavors? They had a dozen, tops.
Yesterday was pretty much a quiet day. Klumpen and I went to the mall a little north of here, looking for a bathing suit for her for our trip to the beach next month. And now I remember why I hate that mall. It used to be rather nice, with a good assortment of stores. Not anymore. Every third store was a little junk store, carrying trinkets and crap. I’ll stick to the behemoth of Potomac Mills from now on.
I’ve been knitting on my Kilimajaro Kat Shawl since yesterday, and have about 6 more patterned rows to go. Then it’s the edging, and I’m finished. I’m taking a break from it right now, because I’ve lost a stitch in each of two pattern repeats, and I wanted some time before I try to figure out where I lost them.
