I bought a new toy!
So, I went and spent more money than I had planned on to buy a new sewing machine. Not that I needed a new sewing machine, but it was a great deal. And it has the One Step Buttonhole! Buttonholes have to be my least favorite thing about sewing. I never get them right, and they always look crappy. Well, no more. Not with my new Singer Model 6550 Scholastic Plus. This machine is an overstock, built for schools, so it’s built to last. All metal construction, automatic tension, sews up to 12 layers of denim, automatic needle threader; what more could I ask for?
I actually have two other machines. One is a 1952 Singer Featherweight, which I keep in its case, because it’s too pretty to use. The other is a Simplicity S210 Celebrity. It’s a good machine, but not very heavy duty. So, I think I’ll make the Simplicity Klumpen’s primary machine, and keep her away from my new one.
And the very sweet salesman with the lovely southern accent carried it out to my car and everything. And complimented me on the stereo, too.
So, I think that this summer, I will work on some sewing projects. TOH needs some new funky shirts, and TSM needs some quick and easy shorts to tear up.
In other news, things are the same in HMO hell. No word yet on a neurologist, and now I’m getting tension headaches over it. Blech.
