Blast from the Past

Ok, so I lied when I said I’d put up pictures. So sue me. I spent a lot of the weekend, trying to sleep. Not very successfully, I might add.

I made it down to the basement once or twice to do some laundry, but I never got around to turning on the computer after Saturday.

Between naps, I became obsessed with working on my needlepoint cosmetic case. I have all but the black background done at this point. I should have been working on the baby sweater for K & P, because I want to have it ready by Friday for the party.

I finished the back, the pocket linings, one sleeve and am on the second sleeve. That leaves the hood, the two fronts, and the assembly. I’ve never made anything with buttons or buttonholes, so I’m a little nervous about how it’ll turn out.

I may need to just give K the hat and socks I already made, with a “To Be Continued” note, since I also volunteered to make the cake for the party. The good news is that he doesn’t want a regular cake. He’d prefer a lemon pound cake, or something to that effect.

Speaking of cakes, I made Klumpen’s birthday cake yesterday. It was the 3D duck pan. He came out a little lopsided. One side was flatter than the other, but it still tasted delicious! And, she wanted green and purple icing. So, he had a purple bill, purple wings, purple eyes, purple spikes on his head and purple writing on the front that said “Punk Duck”. Everything else was green. We decapitated him, and his head rests on a plate now. I need to put those pictures up soon.

Last night, we got a call from friends of ours that we knew in Germany. We haven’t seen the whole family since October of 1991. We saw the husband a few years back when he was in town on business, but not the whole family. They’re in town for the week, visiting friends, and will be stopping by our house sometime this week. When we were in Germany, Klumpen and their oldest daughter were best buddies. They’re only about 2 weeks apart in age, and spent a lot of time together. Their next daughter was only an infant the last time we saw her, and we’ve never met their two youngest girls. So I’m really excited about seeing them all. It’ll be great to see the girls together for the first time in nearly 12 years! We’ll have to dig out the albums to show the “then and now”. :)

Right now I’m off to nap a little and then work on that sweater.
