Visible Proof

So, I’m feeling good about things today. I finally blocked the Sheep Shawl. Pictures can be found in the sidebar over on the right (if it works and I didn’t screw it up) and a close-up of the lace pattern can be found in the same place. I used Jaggerspun Zepher in “Steel” on size 6 needles. The top edge after blocking measures 72″. I forgot to measure from the top to the bottom point, though. I’m pretty darn pleased with it.

I also finished my exchange gift last night. Now I need to wash it to get any cat fur out of it, since Zelig likes to lay on it while I am working. Then put it together with all the little extras I’ve been picking up to go with it and mail it out. It feels good to get it done, and I think (HOPE!) the recipient will like it as much as I enjoyed making it.

As I was driving home yesterday, the traffic announcement signs actually had, get this, traffic information on them! I was pleased to see “Congestion Next 7 Miles”, rather than “Spy on your fellow commuters and tell us about it”. Even though that next 7 miles was the remainder of my commute.

Which then got me thinking about my plan to take pictures of all the flags flying up and down I-95. If I did that, would my fellow commuters call the terrorism line and report me? There are flags everywhere along my commute. The one I mentioned the other day, the one on the sound barrier wall in the Springfield Mixing Bowl, the ones on the construction equipment there, etc. Would peeople think I was plotting ways to cripple the area’s traffic flow? Which, if you think about it, is a pretty darn easy thing to do. Just have a 3 or 4 car pile-up in the mixing bowl, or park someone with a “bomb”, and we’re all screwed for the day.

Anyone remember the truck with the black powder?

So, I don’t think I will be taking those pictures after all. I wouldn’t want to end up like Courtland Milloy.
