Trying to Remain Positive

So, my last entry was pretty depressing.  I’m going to try to focus on the good things today.

TOH’s brother is a totally level headed guy, so I’m sure he’ll cope well in whatever situation his new assignment lands him in.

Even though we had snow yesterday, we’re supposed to have temps near 70 by Wednesday.  Virginia is finally out of drought status with the rain and snow we’ve gotten in 2003.

I can see the wood top of my desk.  For the past several months, it was a swampy morass of paperwork.  I was too tired to focus and everything had been piling up to my ears.  It’s down to the level of my elbows now.

The kids and I went to the mall yesterday.  I bribed the girls with money and freedom to roam without parental supervision for an hour; they had to take TSM to the Lego store so I could try some things on.  It’s nice to be able to use a dressing room without worrying that my 6 year old is going to wander into someone else’s and strike up a conversation.

Then I let the girls off the leash for an hour, and TSM and I hit the toy stores.  The Disney store seemed to be devoted to pink frou-frou things this time around, and Kay-Bee was out of the Transformers that TSM was after.  So, we got something different that he wants to collect a set of, and which will probably be gone by the time we get back to buy more.

The bookstore was a hit though.  We got four books for TSM to read, some little things to add to my gift exchange package, and I picked up The Knitting Stitch Bible for myself.

We had a nice day out of the house, and TOH got a chance to catch up on all the newspapers and get some sleep, too.

For the evening, I worked on my exchange gift.  I’m now about 90% done with it.  Depending on the fatigue level when I get home tonight, I may actually finish it tonight.

I still have to wash and block the Sheep Shawl.  I just haven’t felt up to it all weekend.  I have to do it soon, though, because I promised myself I wouldn’t start another shawl until I actually wore the SS at least once.
