Somebody
I’m Somebody!
I’m tickled to say that I’ve been added to the Knitting Bloggers Webring. I have been looking at all the other sites, and feel a bit out of my league, but in Very Good Company.Didn’t get much knitting done last night, because I went and got my hair cut in preparation for my trip to NYC for the 2nd Annual trip to Smiley’s Yarn Riot and then Tea with the “ladies” at the St. Regis.
Long story short, a bunch of us met over the internet in the About.com Knitting Forum, then moved on to another forum, then moved to a private forum. We’ve met in person and have become close friends. Now we are trying to make a tradition of meeting for the last Smiley’s hotel sale of the year, and then have afternoon tea at the quite posh St. Regis hotel. It’s a great time for us, since we get away from the families, and spend time with other knitters. This year, we have people coming from San Francisco, Ontario, Canada and me from Virginia.
As far as knitting last night, I finished the Fish Lace on the PNS, and am ready to start the Bottom Border, then on to the edging. TOH said the fish look like little “Jesus fish”, and that if I were to start knitting “WWJD” into the border, we’d have some issues. :-> He’s having a hard time imagining this limp piece of knitting that’s on the needles now turning into the shawl in the picture. The beauty of blocking.
Speaking of blocking, I’ve been searching the web for various tips and tricks and how-to’s. Here’s what I found so far:
- Knitting Beyond the Hebrides
- Woolworks.org
- Blocking for Blockheads
- Fiber-Images Pressing Layout
- KnitList Message 23002- Sharon Vogt’s summary of blocking
I’m thinking of having TOH make me a blocking board, since I don’t want to block on the carpet (kids and cats, you know) or the bed.
